Quentin Tarantino’s final movie (maybe) sneaks into London in 2027 - but not how you might expect
The Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction director has long said his next movie will be his last, but now we know it could be a play coming to London's West End next year.

Quentin Tarantino is a man on a mission, and that mission is to not make another movie until he is damn well ready. The director of Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill has long said that his next movie will be his last one and has also said that he wants to put off making it until his son is a bit older, but that hasn’t stopped him from working, as Quentin Tarantino has a new play coming to London in 2027, which could become his last film if it is popular.
Last year, Quentin Tarantino told fans and journalists that he wasn’t in a rush to jump into production of what would be his final film until his son was at least six years old. In the same interview, he explained that he was writing a play which, if it were a smash hit, would count as his last film for the purposes of his retirement.
We now know that his potential final film/play has a title and will be coming to London in 2027. Titled The Popinjay Cavalier, this new play is set in 1830s Europe and is described as “a rambunctious comedy of deception and disguise inspired by the grand swashbuckling epics of stage and screen.” It is currently in development and is expected to get an early 2027 debut on London’s West End.
Does this mean we’ll never see another Tarantino film on the big screen? Possibly, though a lot can happen in a year. If this new play is a smash hit on the West End in London, Quentin Tarantino may use it as his swansong and quit directing films entirely.
