SpongeBob SquarePants just ditched Wendy's and their square burgers for Burger King

A new SpongeBob SquarePants movie is on the way and that means we're getting a brand new version of the Krabby Patty to try.

Most of the time, you shouldn’t put too much stock in rumors you find on the internet, but, sometimes, those rumors end up being true. Earlier this month, we got some chatter from social media that Burger King was teaming up with Nickelodeon icon SpongeBob SquarePants for a menu collaboration. Turns out those rumors were 100% true, and it may be leaving Wendy’s feeling a bit… frosty.

To coincide with The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants hitting cinemas on December 19, 2025, Burger King will have a special SpongeBob SquarePants menu starting on December 2. This follows rumors that started when Snackolator posted on social media a photo of the menu on November 8, 2025.

Now, Burger King has confirmed the rumors are true.

“Looks like word’s floated up from under the sea… we can confirm something fun (and square) is coming to Burger King on December 2.”

However, the rep did stop short of confirming that the leaked image, which includes toys, packaging, and a square Whopper patty on a square bun, is legit. All we really know for sure is that Burger King is the new home of the Krabby Patty outside of Bikini Bottom.

The square burger patty might have Wendy’s feeling a bit left out. The fast-food chain had collaborated with SpongeBob SquarePants for a special menu last year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the show. Now, it seems SpongeBob is looking for the royal treatment for its fans ahead of the new movie.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is out December 19, 2025.
