Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* creator credits include special attention to two of the Sentry creators
Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee don't get 'thanked' in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* movie credits - they get top treatment, and Jenkins got a job out of it.

Two of the creators of Marvel's the Sentry got special attention in the credits to Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*. The movie, which debuted in theaters just hours ago, features the debut of the character as part of a team of heroes (and villains). If you stay to watch the credits (I know I do), Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee aren't just listed in the general 'With Special Thanks To' area, but in fact are called out by name and for their creations.
Here's the full list of Thunderbolts* creator credits:
- Thunderbots created by Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley
- Avengers created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
- Captain America created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby
- The Sentry created by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee
- With special thanks to Brian Michael Bendis, Ed Brubaker, John Buscema, Steve Epting, David Finch, Devin Grayson, Mark Gruenwald, Jonathan Hickman, J.G. Jones, Bob Layton, Steve McNiven, David Michelinie, Tom Morgan, Paul Neary, Jimmy Palmiotti, George Perez, Joe Quesada, John Romita Jr., Jim Steranko, and Roy Thomas.
While the creators of the other members of the MCU Thunderbolts* team are listed, they aren't afforded the special call-out to the character they created - such as Devin Grayson and J.G. Jones for Yelena Belova. But for the Sentry, they are. I find it great for Jenkins in particular, who has said in the past that Marvel has denied him what he feels is fair credit for his work with them.

"I was pretty vocal about it and said it. I don’t like the bullying of creators, I don’t think it’s right. I think creators get treated really badly," Jenkins said in a 2002 interview with ComingSoon.net's Stephen Wilds. "I just don’t think it’s correct. It should have never happened, and it should never continue to happen, yet it has persisted."
For the Sentry, it seems to have changed though; in addition to Jenkins and Lee getting called out specifically for their part in the Sentry's creation in the Thunderbolts* credits, the same credit has also been added to some recent Sentry comics Marvel has published. Jenkins' part in creating the Sentry has also gotten him some new work, as he says he was contracted by Marvel to be the only writer they go to if they ever decide to do a solo Sentry movie. He also says he was a script supervisor on the Thunderbolts movie - although we haven't been able to find any listing of that in the Thunderbolts credits (although there was a lot!) or on the IMDB page for the movie.
This comes as questions about who should be credited as the creator of the Sentry come back into focus 25 years after his debut (and a marketing hoax about who created him). Jenkins says that Rick Veitch, who contributed to the Sentry pitch to Marvel, shouldn't be a creator - and that he conceived the idea of the Sentry before Veitch or listed co-creator Jae Lee became involved. For its part, a Marvel representative has told the company was unaware of Veitch's involvement in the Sentry pitch until recently.
