While we wait for Outlander to premiere the second half of season 7 and season 8 right afterwards, the prequel series Outlander: Blood of my Blood has started filming. Who stars in it? We have the answer here.
The Outlander prequel series was announced in early 2022 and finally started shooting in Scotland in February 2024 (via Diana Gabaldon's blog). Blood of my Blood (official title) reportedly follows the parents of both Jamie and Claire Fraser, meaning the story will be told across two distinct eras: 18th-century Scotland and World War I-era England.
Who's in the Outlander: Blood of my Blood cast?
The lead actors for Outlander: Blood of my Blood were unveiled in early February 2024, right before filming finally started. Below you'll find their names, previous credits, and who they're playing, along with the supporting actors reportedly attached to the series.
- Harriet Slater (Belgravia: The Next Chapter, Pennyworth) plays Ellen MacKenzie, Jamie's mother.
- Jamie Roy (Condor's Nest, Flowers and Honey) plays Brian Fraser, Jamie's father.
- Hermione Corfield (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, We Hunt Together) plays Julia Moriston, Claire's mother.
- Jeremy Irvine (This Is Christmas, War Horse) plays Henry Beauchamp, Claire's father.
- Tony Curran (Outlaw King, Your Honor) plays Lord Lovat.
- Chick Allan (The Last Duel, House of the Dragon) plays Balloch.
Stay tuned for updates to this list as more casting news arrive in the coming months.
What will Outlander: Blood of my Blood be about?
As we mentioned before, Outlander: Blood of my Blood will explore the lives of both Jamie and Claire's parents in 18th-century Scotland and World War I-era England respectively, mainly how they came together and formed a family. The timelines allow a handful of the older characters from Outlander to make an appearance, but you really shouldn't expect the same actors to return in those roles.
Further plot details are being kept under wraps, but we can't help but wonder about how the parallel stories will be told and which historical events will directly affect each family's story. Check back in the coming months for more details; we'll be updating the piece as they come.
