Spider-Man Burger King: Marvel's Miles Morales has taken over select BKs across the world ahead of the second Spider-Verse movie

Yes, there's a Spider-Verse Whopper, but that's not all

Fans impatiently waiting for the June 2 release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in theaters have the opportunity to distract themselves by visiting the movie for themselves… in the form of fast food. Yes, the second installment of Miles Morales’ animated adventures will be the latest movie to have its own fast food tie-in, but there’s even more: select Burger Kings will also be receiving their own Spider-themed makeover.

From right now until June 21, Burger King will be offering a Spider-Verse Whopper, featuring a bright red bun with black sesame seeds in tribute to the classic Spider-Man costume. According to the official press release, the Whopper, which will feature melted Swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and sliced onion, will be available “with personal customizations — including the addition of crispy bacon — potentially making for nearly as many combination possibilities as they are Spider-Verses.”

(Wait, isn’t the Spider-Verse the name for the singular multiverse that all the different Spiders exist in? Are there multiple Spider-Verses now? Is this a spoiler for the new movie?)

Accompanying the Spider-Verse Whopper, there will also be a Spider-Verse Sundae this summer, featuring black and red candies on top of soft serve ice cream, and if you don’t think I’m hungry while writing this, you are very much mistaken. Amazingly, however, that’s not all: BK locations in Astoria and Queens in New York City, as well as locations in Brazil, France, and the United Arab Emirates, will get makeovers to transform into their own local Spider-Verses: check out the images below for examples, and you too can be jealous your local BK isn’t getting the same treatment.

“Burger King is an iconic and global brand, making them the perfect partner for our Spider-Verse film,” Jeffrey Godsick, EVP, Global Partnerships & Brand Management and Head of Location Based Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, said in a statement about the cross-promotion. “Their passion for great creative has led them to come up with fun and imaginative activations that will allow fans to be able to swing into select local Burger King restaurants and immerse themselves in the ‘Spider-Verse.’”
