All stories must come to an end.

Few shows have been as intensely gripping as The Handmaid’s Tale. While only the first season was adapted from the Margaret Atwood book, each subsequent entry has upped the stakes for Gilead and those trying to bring it down. Season six will be the final outing for June, though the story will continue in The Testaments, based on the sequel from Atwood. Who is joining June in The Handmaid’s Tale season six cast?

The main cast of The Handmaid’s Tale has been fairly consistent over the years. The biggest departure has been Alexis Bledel, who left the show and her role as Emily after the fourth season. The returning cast members for The Handmaid’s Tale season six are:

  • Elizabeth Moss as June Osborne
  • Yvonne Strahovski as Serena Joy Waterford
  • Madaline Brewer as Janine
  • Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia
  • O-T Fagbenle as Luke
  • Max Minghella as Nick
  • Samira Wiley as Moira
  • Bradley Whitford as Commander Lawrence
  • Amanda Brugel as Rita

However, beyond these core cast members, we don’t know much about the plot or cast of The Handmaid’s Tale season six. Most details are being kept under tight wraps. The season won’t start shooting until summer of 2024, with a likely 2025 release date according to star Elizabeth Moss. The long delay has largely been due to the 2023 strikes that crippled Hollywood throughout the summer.

While season six will spell the end of The Handmaid’s Tale, the story of Gilead won’t end there. A sequel series titled The Testaments is currently in production. However, we know even less about that show at the moment.
