The latest Dragon Ball Super: Beerus trailer hints at a return of Frieza and a future Resurrection F arc remake

Frieza pops up at the end of the trailer, which shows that a future Dragon Ball Super anime might be in the works after all.

The future of the Dragon Ball franchise has been something that we’ve all been keeping an eye on ever since Akira Toriyama’s sudden death in 2024. However, the various sides of that conflict appear to have agreed to play nice for now, as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, an enhanced version of the first arc of Dragon Ball Super, is set to appear on our screens in October 2026. Yesterday, a new trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus was released, hinting at the return of the most iconic enemy Goku has ever faced in a future arc.

The new trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus serves to show off some of the enhanced visuals and animation that this new version has promised. It isn’t a complete remake, but Toei Animation is recutting the existing footage to give it “a reconstructed narrative” to better reflect the manga. Admittedly, the original Dragon Ball Super anime had some questionable animation choices throughout, which should hopefully be fixed in this version.

“The entire production staff has been working tirelessly to deliver Beerus’ strengths and existence with the latest visual techniques, for everyone to enjoy to the fullest,” commented Akio Iyoku at The Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 event. However, the most important thing in the trailer comes at the very end, where we get a glimpse of Frieza, the most iconic and enduring enemy that Goku and his friends have ever faced, regenerating in his healing pod.

Is this confirmation that we’ll be getting a future arc called Dragon Ball Super: Frieza? No, but the hint is strong enough that we wouldn’t be surprised if it does happen. And we’d welcome it; more than the Battle of Gods arc, the Resurrection F arc had some rushed animation and a lot of filler episodes. Overall, it is a fun arc that has plenty of great moments (the return of Captain Ginyu, for example), but we’d love to see what a tighter narrative and better animation can do for it.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is out in October 2026, while a potential Frieza arc seems all but confirmed in the latest trailer for the series.
