Romance anime fans have a new reason to get excited. A new anime special for Kaguya-sama: Love is War finally has a release date, and it is coming up surprisingly soon. Before the end of 2025, the next chapter of Kaguya-sama: Love is War will debut and show us all what the first steps toward adulthood really are.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War – The Stairway to Adulthood has a release date of December 31, 2025 at 10 pm JST (8 am ET). A new trailer revealed the release date for the anime special alongside the new theme song. Masayuki Suzuki, who has performed every opening theme song to Kaguya-sama: Love is War to date, returns with Abunai Kioku (Dangerous Memory) for the new special.

The new anime special looks like it will be a capstone to the entire series, which might be disappointing for fans who were hoping A-1 Pictures would adapt the rest of the manga. There are still around 130 chapters that haven’t been adapted into an anime yet. However, the previous promotional material for Kaguya-sama: Love is War- The Stairway to Adulthood anime special suggests that it will cover the final chapters of the manga and show where the characters end up instead of showing how they get there.

The announcement confirms that Shinichi Omata is returning to direct the Kaguya-sama: Love is War anime special, along with the main Japanese voice cast, so it should still feel like a continuation of the show even if it isn’t exactly what fans were hoping for.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War – The Stairway to Adulthood debuts on December 31, 2025. No streaming release date has been confirmed, but we expect Crunchyroll to pick it up in the new year.
