Chicago Fire renewed by NBC for season 15: Release date, cast and more

Will stars like Taylor Kinney return for the next season of the NBC One Chicago series?

The last episode of Chicago Fire Season 14 debuted on May 13th, 2026, and viewers are already wondering whether or not the show will be returning for another season. Fortunately, that answer is a resounding "yes"! Chicago Fire Season 15 has already been confirmed by NBC and is expected to begin airing in Fall 2026.

Chicago Fire follows the exploits of the Chicago Fire Department firefighters, paramedics and other first responders at the fictional Firehouse 51. While the ensemble cast is subject to many comings and goings, major characters include Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), Senior Firefighter Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Firefighter Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). The series, which was created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, is the first entry in the Chicago franchise, also called 'One Chicago,' which also includes fellow NBC shows Chicago PD and Chicago Med. (You can find out more about the One Chicago shows right here.)

Chicago Fire Season 15 will see some changes, as showrunner Andrea Newman departs the series after fourteen seasons; Victor Teran is instead taking over that role. While no definitive return date has been set for the series as of writing, NBC has confirmed that 'Windy City Wednesdays' will continue, with all One Chicago shows continuing to air in parallel on Wednesdays starting Fall 2026.

Traditionally, the One Chicago shows return in either the final week of September or the first week of October each year. Although no specific date has been announced, going on past evidence, Chicago Fire Season 15 will return to NBC in late September or early October 2026.
