Netflix's Cobra Kai finale looks to close out the 40 year history of the Karate Kid franchise, according to show creators
We're waxing on for one final time this year.

Legacy is at the heart of Cobra Kai. The Netflix show took what the original Karate Kid series started and delivered a modern tale of redemption and dedication. Now, with season six beginning to air, the final episodes aim to close the book not just on Cobra Kai but the 40-year history of Karate Kid – a mammoth task for the show’s creators.
The first part of Cobra Kai season six is already streaming on Netflix but there are still two parts left to come over the next year. According to the show’s creators, Part Two will focus on widening the scope of the story as Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do set their sights on the Saikai Taikai tournament. However, those raised stakes won’t be resolved until the final five episodes.
“For the final five, it’s not only closing out Cobra Kai as a series, but it’s digging all the way back to the Karate Kid movies. It’s a resolution for a lot of these characters and new beginnings for them as well in different ways,” the creators said in a recent interview. “If you’ve been a fan for just a few years, or if you’ve been a fan for 40 years, you’re in for a real treat in the final five.”
For 40 years, we’ve been following these characters on their journey, so there is something bittersweet about seeing that story come to an end in just a few more episodes. Hopefully, the team behind Cobra Kai can live up to the impressive Karate Kid legacy they’ve been building off of for the past six seasons.
