Does Critical Role's Mighty Nein title sequence music sound familiar? It should - it's Welcome to Wildemount, released in 2022

Prime Video is using the most appropriate music they can to intro new Critical Role series The Mighty Nein, working a song written for Campaign 2 directly into the opening credits

With just a few short days until the debut of Critical Role's second animated series - The Mighty Nein - streamer Prime Video is dripping out more and more reveals to get Critters excited (as if we weren't already). On November 4, the streamer went ahead and released the title sequence of the show, which features a reference to Critical Role's Campaign 2 that committed fans will certainly recognize. We'll get into what that is in a sec, but first, watch (and listen to!) the title sequence for yourself.

Pretty epic, right? Look at Beau kicking all that ass, or Jester unleashing her on-brand magical chaos on some baddies. But maybe the coolest part of this gorgeous sequence isn't what the bombastic visuals flooding our eyeballs at all, but what we see with our ears.

Er, you know what I mean.

The music that will begin each episode of The Mighty Nein clearly uses a tune written for Critical Role's Campaign 2, the story which Mighty Nein is adapting. In particular, that music is a track called Welcome to Wildemounte, a number released on the 2022 Critical Role soundtrack of the same name. The song, written to convey the mythic scale of Exandria's most unsung heroes, was crafted by someone who's a bit of a lesser known Critical Role hero himself: Irish composer and singer Colm McGuinness.

Now let's get something straight - the song you hear in the title sequence above is not the exact tune that McGuinness wrote in 2022. Rather, it appears to be a new number that the show's composer, The Legend of Vox Machina's Neal Acree, has written using the most recognizable elements from McGuinness's work. Whether or not Acree and Prime Video will use other tracks from the Welcome to Wildemounte soundtrack is yet to be revealed.

I guess we'll just have to keep our ears peeled.

The Mighty Nein debuts on Prime Video November 19.
