The Full House cast address some of the series’ biggest continuity errors

The Full House cast explore some of the show’s unanswered questions (and wildest continuity mistakes)

It’s fun to go back and watch Full House. However, the more you watch the 1987-1995 family sitcom, the more continuity errors you’ll notice. And don’t look to the cast to answer these discrepancies, because they’re just as clueless as we are.

“Kimmy Gibbler, how many siblings does she have?” Andrea Barber asks during a panel at 90s Con 2024. “It started with three sisters in the pilot, which I wasn’t even in.  DJ talked about Kimmy’s three sisters.”

Kimmy’s sisters were never seen, and they’re never mentioned again, prompting the other cast members to wonder what happened to them.

“What were they doing with their kids?” Jodie Sweetin asks. “Well, Joey was dating all three of those girls. It was called a half trick,” Dave Coulier jokes.

Candace Cameron Bure brought up Uncle Jesse’s inconsistent surname. “Uncle Jesse was Jesse Cochran. And then he was Jesse Katsopolis,” Cameron says.

“We had different grandmas,” Sweetin adds, referring to the role of Danny Tanner’s mother. Alice Hirson played Claire Tanner in the show’s early episodes before the role was taken over by Doris Roberts.

Honestly, I don’t think any 1987 sitcom writers were concerned with maintaining continuity. Nobody had any idea that the show would be dissected decades later. Plus, it’s a sitcom, so it’s best to ignore the inconsistencies and laugh.

Besides, one Kimmy Gibbler was enough for the Tanner household. I don’t think Danny Tanner would’ve survived all of her sisters.
