Critical Role in outer space? Ashley Johnson has a pitch ready

Ashley Johnson thinks it would be interesting to do a Critical Role campaign from outer space (but acknowledges that they would need a blank check)

In 2021 Ashley Johnson stepped into the role of DM for a Critical Role one-shot called The Nautilus Ark: A Johnson Corp Odyssey. Johnson found the experience scary, but she’s open to doing it again under the right circumstances.

“I have had an idea if we did it again for a very long time. It’s written out, it’s ready to go, but the problem is I am so scared to DM,” Ashley Johnson says during a Critical Role spotlight panel at Emerald City Comic Con 2026. “I love it. DMing is very scary, but when you have to do it on camera, it’s extra scary. I would need to gain the courage again to do it.”

In a scenario where money is no object, Johnson has the perfect venue for her next DM stint – outer space.

“I do have some weird ideas that if we had a blank check, I would definitely be able to do, like actually doing it in space. That’s what I would do with a blank check. We’re going to do a one-shot on ISS. Maybe Mars. I don’t know.”

This is obviously a thought-exercise that shouldn’t be taken too seriously, but I think this would be awesome. I don’t know how much it would cost to get the Critical Role crew on the International Space Station, but I have a feeling there are tons of Critters who would be more than happy to fund it.
