The setting of The Witcher, explained [Lore Corner]
Within the world of The Witcher, we constantly hear, "The Continent this, the Continent that," but where the heck is all of this actually taking place?

The world of The Witcher pulls elements from Polish, Irish, and German cultures, which keeps the fantasy ongoings rather grounded. But where are the adventures of Geralt of Rivia actually set? On this here Earth? Or is it a Westeros situation where the story takes place on an entirely different planet altogether?
To lead us in the investigation is our video producer, Ashley Victoria Robinson, who has put together a video explaining where The Witcher actually takes place. So put on your geography class caps, and take a look below.
Where is The Witcher set?

The Witcher is set on a planet that is not our own! While the people who live in the world of The Witcher also refer to their planet as “the Earth” or “the globe” (no Flat Earth happening here, folks), it is a separate world from our own. The planet of The Witcher, however, exists in a multiverse. More on that up ahead!
What is The Continent in The Witcher?

The Continent is the main land mass where the events of The Witcher take place. There is no direct parallel between the Continent from The Witcher and one of the seven continents that we have on our planet Earth. The Continent has no name beyond, simply, the Continent, making things easy for us.
What is the Conjunction of the Spheres?

If you’ve played The Witcher III: The Wild Hunt, you may remember the beginning of the game telling you about an event known as the Conjunction of the Spheres. It was an event where the multiverse collapsed, and beings from other worlds came into the planet where The Witcher takes place. Creatures like vampires, elves, dwarves, and more arrived on The Continent where Geralt and the rest of his buddies live.
