Does Krysten Ritter's Daredevil: Born Again return herald a new Jessica Jones show?

When Jon Bernthal returned for Daredevil: Born Again season 1, he got a Punisher special out of the experience. With Krysten Ritter teasing "much more in store" for Jessica Jones, is she hinting at something similar?

Okay, we’ll bite: what else does Marvel Studios have in mind for Jessica Jones?

Krysten Ritter took to the stage during Disney’s annual upfront presentation to reveal that she was returning as the character for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, teasing, “without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones.”

It’s possible — maybe likely, even, considering Marvel’s intentionally reduced output these days — that Ritter is just referring to plans for the character inside the second season of Born Again; however, it’s worth wondering if there’s more going on than meets the eye. Would Ritter return for a guest-starring role in the show alone, considering she’d previously been headlining her own series, for one thing? Secondly, Ritter is now the second additional lead from the Marvel/Netflix era to make an appearance in Born Again, following Jon Bernthal’s Punisher showing up in season 1 — and that appearance led to a standalone Punisher project, which Bernthal is co-writing.

Could something similar be on the cards for Ritter’s Jessica Jones? It might depend on how busy Ritter is with other projects; she’s already signed up to be a recurring character in Showtime’s Dexter: Resurrection, and has a sideline as an author, in part because she’s trying to create new onscreen roles for herself. Could all of this be pushed aside if fans demand more Jessica Jones?

We may have to wait awhile until we find out; Daredevil: Born Again season 2 isn’t expected to debut on Disney+ until early 2026. In the meantime, all of the original Jessica Jones series is available to stream on the platform.
