Severance is set to expand on Apple TV+ with potential spin-offs being discussed, says producer Ben Stiller... including multiple shows, and perhaps even a video game
Never doubt the power of Lumon Industries, as Apple TV+ hit Severance is looking to expand with spinoffs, admits executive producer Ben Stiller

Lumon Industries is expanding. After the second season of Apple TV+’s Severance became the biggest show on the streaming platform, it’s probably not the biggest surprise that Apple would want more. Perhaps more surprising: that “more” might come in the shape of a separate show, instead of more episodes of Severance — and that writers are already teasing out not just one, but two different spin-off ideas for Apple. And there might be even more Lumon than that in the offing.
“There are two specific ideas — that I won’t tell you — that we’ve talked about internally as possible spinoff ideas,” executive producer Ben Stiller admitted when asked by Variety about the potential to transform Severance from one series into a potential franchise. Said ideas “are nascent,” Stiller said, suggesting that no-one outside of the show’s writers room knows what they are just yet.
(You can assume that, once this Variety piece went live, Apple TV+ execs probably made a call or two, however.)
Severance doesn’t have to be limited to television, however; Stiller also said that it would “be great to have a Severance video game,” which is an idea that series star Adam Scott (who also happens to be one of the show’s producers) agrees with: “I think it lends itself to one.” If this means that we can expect a game where we all have to finish the Cold Harbor project for ourselves using the weird sorting method seen on the show, I am in — and I can only dream that I get my own Mr. Milchick-led parade if I complete it.
In case this sounds as if focus is being lost on the main Severance series, don’t worry; according to Stiller, the writers room is working on Season 3 as you read this, although he won’t be drawn on details beyond that. (Notably, he gave a “no comment” about how many seasons the show is planning on running. More fuel for the fire that the show has an intentional ending in mind already, perhaps…?)
Severance Seasons 1 and 2 are available on Apple TV+ now.
