Blue's Clues host Steve Burns is still listening - and he has a new project where he'll listen to random people on the Internet like me
Is this a cynical cash grab to bank in on the Internet's goodwill toward Steve from Blue's Clues? Maybe, but it still sounds wholesome as heck.

We all need someone to talk to sometimes, which was why the Internet had a collective cry when Steve from Blue’s Clues told us he hadn’t forgotten us and he was proud of us. Now, Steve is trying to continue that warm, fuzzy feeling with a new podcast focused on listening to people when they talk. The new podcast is described as “part-podcast, part-conversation.” Our cynical nature wants to call it an attempt to monetize all our fond memories of Steve from Blue’s Clues, but, honestly, he’s probably just wholesome enough to win us around.
The new podcast was announced earlier this week as an extension of something that Steve Burns was already doing on TikTok, which was listening to random people on the Internet as they explained their problems. This in itself is incredibly brave of him; as Elmo found out, the Internet has a way of unloading on friendly ears.
Titled Alive, this new series will debut in the fall and will feature conversations between Steve from Blue’s Clues and listeners as they try to navigate an increasingly complex and difficult world.
“I really want to continue what we started decades ago… For us, it was all about curious investigation. It was about looking a little closer. About asking the right questions,” Steve explained in a press release. “Alive is really just a continuation of that same conversation – only now we’re grown-ups, trying to make sense of a world that’s a whole lot more complicated. We’re still searching, still learning, still trying to connect… And, you know, there’ll be less talking furniture, sure, but we’re still going to have a lot of fun along the way.”
Here is the thing: from anyone else, this would have set off alarm bells as an attempt to cash in on Steve’s resurgence to the public eye after he made us all bawl our eyes out in 2021. But… we’ll Steve from Blue’s Clues has been listening to people for free for long enough that it feels like a genuine passion of his, so we’re ready to believe him on this. Besides, the world is a scary place, so it is nice to know someone is listening to us sometimes.
