Netflix finally unveils Liam Hemsworth's Geralt in The Witcher season 4 teaser, and fans are... well, not as mad about him as you'd think
Don't get us wrong, there's still a great deal of Witcher-ites in mourning for Henry Cavill, but fans of the Netflix series seem to at least be open to watching Hemsworth take over the role in season 4

"Gotta respect them for keeping this comment section open."
That's one of the first comments left on the brand new teaser trailer of The Witcher season 4, posted to Netflix's official YouTube channel September 14. And we understand the sentiment - ever since it was announced that Henry Cavill would be leaving the role of Geralt of Rivia, which would be taken over by Liam Hemsworth, fans have been vocally upset. However, I've been trawling through the comment section on this very spooky-season-appropriate teaser and, I gotta say, I found a bit more positivity than I expected.
We'll talk about that in a sec, but first, here's the teaser trailer in question. Watch it for yourself.
OK! What did you think? Was Liam enough like Henry to you? Or on the other hand, would you have rather he tried harder to differentiate himself from the performance? Whatever your personal take on the teaser (which, at only 96 seconds, should maybe not be enough to judge a full season of a show), the aforementioned open comment section seemed to be largely in agreement about one thing: whatever season 4's faults may be, they shouldn't be pinned on the incoming Hemsworth.
"Remember guys," reads the very top comment, "don't blame Liam, blame the Producers." "If Henry Cavill didn't exist," says another, "Liam is actually not a bad casting." And finally, one commenter notes that "I'm happy to see supportive comments for Liam." This is the internet, of course, so there are a handful of comments outright blasting Hemsworth - but for the most part, it seems Witcher fans have shufted blame onto the streaming platform that brought them the adventures of Geralt, not the new guy putting on his armor.
The Witcher season 4, starring Liam Hemsworth, debuts on Netflix October 30. In the meantime, your pals Ashley V. Robinson and Jules Chin Greene have been doing quite the deep dive into Witcher source material over on Lore Corner. Probably worth checking out, no?
