Netflix's Wednesday creators are rebooting the Addams Family again, this time as an animated movie

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar's feature film will not be connected to the Jenna Ortega-centered Wednesday universe, nor will it be produced with Netflix's involvement

Yes, Wednesday is all the rage these days, but some of us remember a time when it was the entire Addams Family, not just the (admittedly spectacular) morose daughter in the spotlight. And soon, a new generation of creepies and kookies are going to gte to see the entire family in their full glory again... from the same folks that first gave young Wednesday top billing. Netflix's Wednesday creators, that is, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, have announced development of a new, animated (!) Addams Family movie.

The story comes from a Deadline article published August 11, which not only revealed the film's development but clarified that it would not be set in the same universe as Netflix's Wednesday, though, of course, the two separate projects will use the same characters (getting big Spider-man vibes from this whole thing).

"We’re working on it with Amazon MGM," said Gough, "And with Kevin Miserocchi who runs the Addams Foundation, he knew Charles Addams and the keeper of the Addams flame, and with Gail Berman and John Glickman. We’re rebooting the animated film franchise. So it won’t have anything to do with the two films before it, nor is it connected with this show. It will be a brand new Addams feature. There’s not really much we can say about it, because it’s in the very early stages."

Oh dang, so it's not even connected to the other films already made? Dang, this is going to be a completely different kind of Addams Family, isn't it? Ah well, as long as they stay true to the fact that Gomez Addams is God's most heroic simp, I'll buy it.

Wednesday season 2 part 1 is streaming now, with part 2 coming September 3.
