X-Men '97 has already been renewed for a season 2, here's when we think the release date might be

To me, my X-Men.

Few animated series have enjoyed the kind of legacy of X-Men: The Animated Series. Not only was it the origin of fan-favorite character Jubilee, but it was also one of the first animated series to try to make a faithful adaptation of some of the most iconic storylines in comic book history. Now, with the X-Men ’97 release date approaching, fans are already wondering when season two of the show will land.

The final episode of X-Men: The Animated Series ended with Professor Xavier leaving Earth in the hopes of finding a cure for life-threatening injuries he sustained early in the episode. X-Men ’97 follows on from that shocking ending with the team scrambling to tackle new challenges without their former leader. While the first episodes of X-Men '97 landed on Disney+ in March 2024, Marvel have already confirmed that more seasons are on the way.

When will season two of X-Men '97 land? There isn't any way of knowing just yet. All we know is that the show is currently in development, which could mean anything from reassembling the writers' room to storyboarding or animation work being done. As of now, there hasn't been an official release date announced for X-Men '97, so the best we can do is wait for more information.

The good news, however, is that a third season is also in production from Marvel. The fact that the two seasons are being developed at the same time could mean that they will try to tackle one of the longer, more intensive plots from the comics. Provided that the first season is well-received and performs well, of course.

X-Men ’97 will air on Disney+ starting on March 20, 2024. A second and third seasons are currently in production.
