Every creative person out there makes mistakes. Even someone with as impressive a career as Frank Miller, whose takes on Batman and Daredevil helped define the characters, and whose Sin City pushed the boundaries of what was possible in a graphic novel. However, his path hasn’t been without bumps and missteps, which is why Frank Miller is offering insight into the lessons he’s learned in his career in comics with his new memoir coming out later this year.

Earlier this year, Frank Miller announced that he was releasing his new memoir, Push The Wall: My Life, Writing, Drawing, and the Art of Storytelling, in July 2026, which promises to be a mixture of his life story and insight into his creative processes. We chatted with the writer and artist of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and Sin City about why now seems like the right time to release this book.

“It’s my way to describe my experiences working in comics and my discoveries about the craft of creating them,” Frank Miller explained to us. “Lessons learned; lessons offered.”

Frank Miller’s thoughts on his own career will, of course, be interesting, but the insight into the “lessons learned” over the years will undoubtedly be invaluable to anyone who decides to pick up Push The Wall when it is published later this year. Few people have pushed the envelope for comics more than Frank Miller over the years.

Push The Wall: My Life, Writing, Drawing, and the Art of Storytelling by Frank Miller is out on July 14, 2026.
