DSTLRY has already made waves in the comic book industry with its ambitious publishing plans, line-up of new creator-owned titles, and innovative take on digital comic publishing; now, it’s time to see just how well the new publisher handles comic book conventions, with the company making its con debut at at this month's San Diego Comic-Con.

“At DSTLRY, we’re committed to the future of creator-owned comics. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to celebrate our Founding Creators, give the first taste of our debut book, The Devil’s Cut, and tease the amazing books we have planned for this fall and 2024,” say founders David Steinberger and Chip Mosher in a statement provided exclusively to Popverse. They added, “We could never miss a San Diego Comic-Con.”

Beyond three panels showcasing the publisher across the five-day event — Thursday’s The Great DSTLRY Live Draw with Tula Lotay, Jock, and Mirka Andolfo; Friday’s DSTLRY Presents: The Scott Snyder and Jock Spotlight; and Saturday’s DSTLRY Presents: Drinking from The Devil’s Cut, featuring editor Will Dennis talking to Mirka Andolfo, Marc Bernardin, Becky Cloonan, Jock, Jöelle Jones, Ariela Kristantina, Tula Lotay, Scott Snyder, James Tynion, and Ram V — DSTLRY will also be hosting creator signings at its booth from Thursday to Saturday, as well as offering a number of exclusive pieces of merchandise:

  • The Devil’s Cut early release, featuring an exclusive gold foil variant cover by Jock
  • The Devil’s Cut early release, featuring an exclusive “The Bollocks” variant cover by Emma Price
  • The Devil’s Cut 18” x 24” screen print poster, featuring Jock’s artwork for the main cover of the special issue
  • Mominu early release, designed by Junko Mizuno and available in two colorways

For those wondering what 'Mominu' is, it’s the first collectible from DSLTRY: a 5-inch tall red panda holding the company’s distinctive 'D' logo, designed by DSTLRY founding creator Mizuno, The two colorways released at the show will be a regular colorway and a 'The Bollocks' colorway, using the colors of Emma Price’s variant cover to The Devil’s Cut.

The Devil’s Cut is, of course, the anthology first release from the publisher, featuring work from all of the creators named above, as well as Elsa Charretier, Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Rosso, Francesco Francavilla, and more. The issue will be officially released August 30, making the SDCC variants a welcome drop.
