Perhaps the biggest surprise at the box office last year (besides Barbie) was how Five Nights at Freddy's dominated October (and more), becoming one of the pillars that held up Universal's surprisingly strong year (so strong, that it beat out Disney for the year's box office crown). It's no wonder that the creators are ready to go back for more and capitalize off that killer momentum that not only won the franchise box office numbers, but also dominated October's spooky season. One major player - Five Nights at Freddy's star Josh Hutcherson, is also raring to get back onto set.

In an interview with Variety, Hutcherson, who is currently on press tour for the new Jason Statham action movie The Beekeeer, said that the work towards sequel to Five Nights at Freddy's is already under way. "I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible,” Hutcherson told Variety, also adding that he personally is "dying to get back on set."

About the film's huge impact on audiences, who came out in hordes to support the movie in theaters as well as on streaming, Hutcherson said "I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did." Hopefully, those hordes will be just as excited to support the sequel, when it finally hits the big screen.
