Madden NFL 26 release date: The latest entry in the series from EA Sports is heading to the end zone this summer

Hope you're ready for some football, because the upcoming Madden NFL 26 is the latest entry in the long-running video game series

Are you ready for some football? Hopefully, because the release date for Madden NFL 26 is coming up fast. The latest game in the long-running series boasts brand-new features, including an AI-based system trained on real NFL game situations and play calls, authentic playstyles, player- and coach-specific skills and more. Here's when you can expect to start playing the newest Madden NFL game from EA Sports.

Madden NFL 26 will be released on August 14 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S. The long-running Madden series kicked off over thirty years ago with John Madden Football, released in 1988. Since then, new games in the series have been released almost every year, across many different platforms. The most recent, Madden NFL 25, was released a year ago, in August 2024. While there are many highly-anticipated game releases this summer, the Madden series is unique in being such a mainstay over the years. You can watch the trailer here:

Among the many features boasted by Madden NFL 26, there is one interesting facet related to the game's appearances on Nintendo consoles. Thanks to the game's release on Nintendo Switch 2, it is the first Madden game to be released on a Nintendo console since Madden NFL 13 in 2012. This is something of a homecoming for the franchise, since the series has a history of appearing on Nintendo consoles that stretches back to 1991's John Madden Football II on the SNES.

Madden NFL 26 will be released August 14 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S.
