Spider-Noir release date, cast, Spider-Man connection, and more
The Nicolas Cage Spider-Noir show has assembled an all-star cast of characters who will swing into Prime Video this spring

Spider-Noir swings into Prime Video on May 27, 2026, with national treasure Nicolas Cage reprising his Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse role as the hard-boiled detective named Ben Reilly from 1930s New York City. Don't get your webs twisted, though: Spider-Noir isn't connected to the events of the Spider-Verse movies, it just features the same character, capisce? If you're wondering how that works, keep reading. Here's everything you need to know about Prime Video's Spider-Noir.
Spider-Noir: The Basics
The Spider-Noir release date is May 25, 2026 on the MGM+ cable channel, followed by its Prime Video debut on May 27, 2026. The 8-episode series stars Nicolas Cage alongside Li Jun Li and Brendan Gleeson, and will be available to stream on Prime Video.
Who is in Spider-Noir?

- Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly/Spider-Noir
- Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson
- Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy
- Karen Rodriguez as Janet
- Abraham Popoola
- Jack Huston as Flint Marko
- Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane
You can't put someone of Nicolas Cage's caliber in a Spider-Noir TV show and not bring in a great supporting cast. Spider-Noir will mark a return for Brendan Gleeson in a New York City-set project, since he had a role as the shillelagh-wielding Monk McGinn in Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York.
Li Jun Li will also have a supporting role, fresh off the success of Ryan Coogler's 2025 film, Sinners, playing Cat Hardy - a reimagined version of classic Spider-Man supporting character The Black Cat who's a nightclub singer with a secret. Emmy-winning actor Lamorne Morris, who has a legendary delivery of the line "Man, glass tables are acting weird tonight" in the comedy movie Game Night, is also in the cast as Robbie Robertson, whom Amazon MGM Studios describes as "a dedicated journalist trying to make it in 1930s New York with the odds stacked against him. He is willing to do whatever is necessary for his career as well as Reilly, his best friend".
What is Spider-Noir about?
According to Prime Video, Spider-Noir follows Ben Reilly, "a seasoned, down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero."
Despite that description, executive producer Phil Lord - who, along with partner Chris Miller, are also executive producers and screenwriters for the Spider-Verse movie series - told Deadline that the show isn't intended as an overly downbeat watch. "It is a big character drama, it is an amazing mystery, it’s a big event television, but it’s also light on its feet," he teased.
Is Spider-Noir part of the Spider-Verse?
No, Spider-Noir is not part of the Spider-Verse. Yes, it's Nicolas Cage playing the same character that he played in the Spider-Verse movies, but it's a completely self-contained story separate from Sony Pictures Animation's movie series.
"Same character, different universe,” was the way that showrunner Oren Uziel explained it to Empire, adding, “It’s a different flavour of that character, even though it’s still Nick’s voice [...] It’s not a continuation of Into The Spider-Verse. Once Phil and Chris introduced the idea of the multiverse, I think you’re allowed to take things and make them your own."
Spider-Noir: Where and when does it take place?
The exact setting of Spider-Noir is purposefully unclear, given that it is an alternate version of the alternate Earth that Spider-Noir came from in the Spider-Verse movies. Whatever number of Earth it may be, the more important things are the specifics: Spider-Noir is set in New York City in the 1930s. Given that there will be no multiversal elements in the series itself, anything beyond that is unnecessary.
How many episodes will Spider-Noir have?
Spider-Noir will have 8 episodes, which gives us spider-folk plenty of time to get lost in the sauce of high contrast cinematography.
Are there multiple versions of Spider-Noir?
There is a multiverse of Spider-Noir, with Prime Video releasing two different versions of the series: one in black and white, and one in color... or, as Prime Video describes is, "Authentic Black & White" and "True-Hue Full Color." Each episode will be released in both formats.
Is Spider-Noir related to Marvel Comics character Spider-Man Noir?
According to the co-creator of Marvel Comics' Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Noir is a different character. "They created something that is not what I created. That does not even have the same name," Fabrice Sapolsky told Popverse in March 2026. "There’s a lot of, I understand that there’s a lot of legal issues there, why they changed the main character, why they changed the name, and they went and changed so much that what I created 20 years ago now is barely recognizable. No, I don’t feel any connection to it. I don’t feel it. I wish them well. This is their thing. But I did not create any character with a stupid hat, and I take Peter Parker’s story seriously."
He's correct on a very basic level: Spider-Man Noir is a Peter Parker from a noir-influenced reality. Spider-Noir (who, yes, is specifically not called Spider-Man) is literally not Peter Parker: He's Ben Reilly. Think of Spider-Noir as a character inspired by the comic book character created by Sapolsky and David Hine for 2008's Spider-Noir #1.
Is there a Spider-Noir trailer?
You bet there is a Spider-Noir trailer. More than one, in fact, with both the teaser video and the official trailer being released in color and black and white to demonstrate the different flavors of noir-tinged spider-action available. (And tease the many Spider-Man villains and characters being reimagined for the series.) Take a look at all four Spider-Noir trailers below.
Where can I watch Spider-Noir?
You will be able to watch Spider-Noir on Prime Video or MGM+.
