Marvel's Loki season 2 looks more action-packed than season 1

For those who felt Loki season 1 was a lot of setup, it looks like the action may be finally here

Loki season 1 distinguished itself from other Disney+ Marvel series with a strong aesthetic and interesting premise, but it served up a fairly anemic - or in nicer terms, slow - season of story. In fact, most of the season seemed to be about introducing Loki's new circumstances and friends (or enemies?) instead of doing much with them. While it was cool to putter around the TVA and worlds on the verge of collapse, the season felt a little on the empty side in terms of plot. But now, if the new season 2 trailer is anything to go by, the action is finally ready to begin.

It's hard to put one's finger on exactly why this new Loki spot seems more exciting than the still very aesthetically interesting (and thus, for Marvel Studios, somewhat bold) trailers for the first season, but it probably has to do with the fact that, though there is still a heavy dose of mystery in this trailer, the mystery seems fully focused on the trials that Loki and friends are set to endure instead of the questions of 'Where is Loki?' and 'Who are these people?' and 'What on earth is the TVA?'

Now that we've spent a whole season with them, we have a better idea of who Ravonna, Sylvie, and Mobius are as characters and where they are in relation to each other. We know who this new-ish Loki is and what he's facing. Now, we're getting to see them against the world (or is it timelines?). Sure, there are still new characters to introduce, namely Ke Huy Quan's OB, Victor Timely (a Kang variant), and old Thor villain Zaniac, but we at least now know the core team and know what they're facing (more or less). And now, in season 2, we're ready to see them (hopefully) work together to stop whatever is up Kang's sleeve.
