Godzilla conquers Pabst Blue Ribbon in new U.S. marketing collaboration

The King of Monsters is taking over the legendary 99-pack of PBR for a collaboration of kaiju proportions.

Godzilla is one of the biggest cinema characters of all time – both figuratively and literally – so he has teamed up with plenty of big corporate names over the years. The kaiju has teamed up with everything from McDonald's to Snickers to KFC over the years, and now he’s making a big impact on stores around the US with a colossal-sized collaboration with Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.

You read that right; PBR is not content with being overlooked in the beer aisle anymore and is making sure it stands out in a big way. That isn’t a turn of phrase, either, because PBR has brought back their 99 pack, but this time they’re getting the biggest movie star around to grace the cover – Godzilla.

The Godzilla 99 pack of PBR builds on the brand’s recent team-up with the King of Monsters. This time, instead of just having artwork of Godzilla and other iconic kaiju, like Mechagodzilla, Mothra, and Ghidorah, on the cans, they’ve packed them into a massive box that you will both treasure and struggle to get into your kitchen.

As hilarious as we find the idea of a 99-pack of beer towering over the supermarket aisle, we have to mention that the artwork by ATTACK Peter is absolutely rad and worth checking out. The linocut style is a great way to embrace the Japanese roots of these characters in a modern way. It would almost be a shame to open the box, but what else are you going to do with a case of 99 beers taking up space in your kitchen?

PBR is only putting together 4000 of these collector packs for sale this year, so you won’t want to pass them up if you get the chance. Not with Godzilla looming over you like that.
