During New York Comic Con 2025, Popverse’s Ashley V. Robinson had the chance to sit down in the Pop Spot with actor Michael Chiklis. The star of movies like 2005’s Fantastic Four and shows like The Shield and The Commish, Chiklis has had an interesting and varied career that has left him with plenty of fascinating insights. But if he could play a Classic hero from any pantheon, which character who he want to play?
The topic came up when Robinson asked, “Are there any great heroes from any pantheon that you would be interested in visiting, either in live action or in voice over? Like, are you dying to play Achilles or Thor or Vishnu?”
Chiklis answered, “Well, you know, Achilles is the ultimate tragic hero. But so many… You named several of them right away.” He then brought up his appearance on DuckTales (2017) as Zeus, saying he loved playing that role. “That’s the god of gods,” he said. Then he qualified that statement: “In that pantheon.”
Chiklis continued, “I’m open to anything if it’s an interesting character. I just don’t like things that are flat… That are without dimension.” Robinson responded, “So no King Priam, but more like Agamemnon or Menelaus.” Chiklis was wholly impressed with Robinson’s mythological knowledge. “Wow, look at you,” Chiklis exclaimed. “A literate person!”
