I don't know about you, but I'm planning on having a Hot [Super]Girl Summer this year. After Milly Alcock's Supergirl debuted in James Gunn's 2025 Superman movie, I am all-in for traveling around outer space with DC's Maid of Might. What can I say, I'm a huge fan of both Kara Zor-El and Craig Gillespie, who also directed the stellar I, Tonya film about figure skater Tonya Harding.

Already, DC Studios has released a teaser trailer for Supergirl, and it looks like the film is shaping up to be a raucously good time. Without much further ado, here is Everything You Need To Know about Supergirl 2026.

So when is the Supergirl release date?

Supergirl will hit theaters on June 26, 2026. It's the perfect way to kick off your Supergirl Summer, ahead of San Diego Comic-Con 2026.

Is there a Supergirl trailer?

You bet there is! Check it out below.

Milly Alcock will play Supergirl/Kara Zor-El in the DC Studios Supergirl film. You may have seen her as the younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO's House of the Dragon show, or in the music video for 'Easy Now' by Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

Who is in the Supergirl cast?

The Supergirl cast is as follows:

  • Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl
  • Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills
  • Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll
  • David Krumholtz as Zor-El
  • Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze
  • Jason Momoa as Lobo
  • Diarmaid Murtagh as Drom Baxton
  • Ferdinand Kingsley as Elias Knoll
  • David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman

What is the Supergirl plot?

The Supergirl plot is based off of the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book story from Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The teaser for the film is as follows: "When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice."

What is the Supergirl costume in the movie?

We first got a glimpse at the DC Studios Supergirl costume in the 2025 Superman film, where Alcock's Kara made a cameo appearance. In the Supergirl film, it appears that Kara wears the same long brown coat that she does in her cousin Clark's movie.

How old is Supergirl in the movie?

As can be seen in the teaser, Supergirl is 23 years old in the movie.

Is this connected to the Supergirl comic?

Yes! The Supergirl movie is an adaptation of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Why was there a Supergirl name change for the movie?

Originally, the title of the Supergirl movie was Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. However, in June 2025, James Gunn announced (via Rolling Stone) that the film would drop the "Woman of Tomorrow" bit.

Who is Jason Momoa going to play in Supergirl?

Jason Momoa is playing the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo in Supergirl. Lobo is an alien from the planet Czarnia, and is one of the last remaining members of his species. Czarnians are unique because of their ability to regeneratively heal, and they can only be killed by other members of their species. In DC Comics, Lobo is frequently seen riding his motorcycle through space, smoking cigars, and referring to himself as "the Main Man."

Who is the Supergirl villain?

The villain in Supergirl is Krem of the Yellow Hills, who is also the baddie in the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book story by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Krem murders the father of a young girl. Supergirl then takes the girl, named Ruthye, in and protects her against Krem. If Schoenaerts looks familiar to you, it's because he played Booker in The Old Guard films on Netflix! He's also excellent as a prison inmate in a rehabilitation program training wild horses in The Mustang, also on Netflix.
