Funko announces POP! price increase starting in July due to Trump's tariffs, but they're trying to make the price jump worth it to fans

With most of their products made in China and Vietnam, this announcement from Funko feels inevitable.

We’re not sure if you’ve heard, but the price of things has gone up. Both the board game and video game industries have warned that Trump’s tariffs will have a significant impact on pricing going forward. Now, the collectible figurine market is showing signs of strain under the current administration’s trade war with China, as Funko has announced its signature POP! line of figurines will increase in price starting in July.

Unlike Microsoft, Funko explicitly mentioned the tariffs the Trump administration has imposed on imports from China as at least part of the reason for their upcoming price increase. “We know price changes are frustrating – especially for longtime collectors,” Funko wrote in a blog post detailing the price increase. “But the reality is: it costs more to make things today. From rising tariffs to shipping to raw materials, the cost of creating our products has gone up significantly.”

Starting in July, Funko will be raising the suggested retail price of their standard POP! figurines to $14.99. Other products will get price increases at a later date. However, Funko has said that they are determined to deliver some upgrades to their product alongside this price increase, including:

  • Better sculpts and more detailed figures
  • Premium packaging printed directly onto the box
  • Expanded Octane5 stickers to track and authenticate rare finds
  • Limited Editions collectibles that are actually limited

Though the majority of Funko POP! figures are designed in the US, they are manufactured in China and Vietnam, which makes them particularly hard hit by the Trump administration’s high tariffs on products from those areas. Even with Funko “opting to absorb a big part of the increase behind the scenes,” these price increases feel inevitable. We wouldn’t be surprised if other figurine manufacturers end up announcing similar price hikes in the coming months as it becomes clear that these tariffs are not going away anytime soon.
