For years, Trigger has been one of the most exciting anime studios out there. Formed by former Gainax employees after that studio began to fall apart, Trigger has animated shows like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Delicious in Dungeon, and Panty and Stocking. But what is coming next for the anime studio? Trigger has confirmed that they’ll be revealing their next anime project in July at Anime Expo 2026.
To be fair, Trigger already has a very full plate; Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 is in production, and they’re about to give fans a first look at Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 at Anime Expo. Yesterday, the studio’s official social media confirmed that they are also bringing word about their next project to their July 4, 2026 panel at Anime Expo.
“Join us for a special event panel featuring an exclusive behind-the-scenes production talk for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 with Director Ikarashi and Scriptwriter Otsuka,” the post said. “We’ll also be sharing the latest production updates for Delicious in Dungeon, along with the first announcement for Studio Trigger’s next title! Don’t miss out!”
What this new title could be remains a mystery. It could be yet another sequel to Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, though that could mean another decade of waiting. More likely, it will be something new they’ve been working on between their other projects. The studio is known for its gorgeous animation and occasionally bizarre subject matter. We’ll find out what exactly Trigger has coming next on July 4, 2026 at their Anime Expo 2026 panel.
