Critical Role crew will return to Exandria someday, but says they have to take care of a few surprises first
Liam O’Brien says Critical Role has a few secret projects he can’t wait to share

Exandria is a big world, and Critical Role has only explored a small portion of it. Exandria is the setting for the first three campaigns, which were adapted in the television series The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein. Will Exandria be explored in any more Critical Role projects? Critical Role’s Liam O’Brien hopes so.
“Animation is queen,” Liam O’Brien says during a Critical Role spotlight panel at Emerald City Comic Con 2026. “I love animation. I do still love the idea of exploring Exandria in the far-flung future, however, I feel like there are 50 other ideas that we want to get to probably before it would be time for such a thing.”
“We have 50 things cooking in the kitchen right now. Some of them are fantasy, some of them are not. I’m excited about all of them. We continually are a bunch of dorks gravitating towards story and adventure and real human interaction, and everything will have that at its core, and I can’t wait to not have them be secrets.”
That final comment was a bit cryptic and has piqued my curiosity. I’m not sure what the Critical Role crew is cooking, but I’m ready to feast on it.
With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That's why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:
- How to watch Critical Role in order
- Travis Willingham on the differences between The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein
- Taliesin Jaffe on playing Mollymauk Tealeaf for Campaign 2 vs. playing him for Prime Video
- Matt Mercer's homebrew warrior class (created originally for Vin Diesel)
...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
