Beyond D&D: Critical Role is expanding into new TTRPG genres like Draw Your Weapons and Weird Kids

Marisha Ray says Critical Role is exploring new types of programming, including new games like Draw Your Weapons

Popverse’s coverage of Emerald City Comic Con is brought to you by Signet Collectibles, the go-to place for authentic autographed items! Embrace your collecting Journey.

Critical Role is expanding, and there’s plenty of new content to get excited about. Thanks to their streaming hub Beacon, the Critical Role team has the opportunity to go beyond their usual programming and try new types of games and different types of shows.

Marisha “I think we’ll always feature tabletop RPG content and we’re always trying to find new groups and new games and new people to platform and new ways to reinvent the medium,” Marisha Ray says during a Critical Role spotlight panel at Emerald City Comic Con 2026.

“That’s always very exciting. But I think we’re definitely looking to expand into different genres. Obviously, we have Weird Kids which has been a really great success for us. We just launched Draw Your Weapons from the Titmouse crew for our animated series partners. It’s really fun if you haven’t checked it out.”

This is in addition to their 50 secret projects (!?!?) and animated film pitch. The Critical Role crew isn’t slowing down anytime soon, and honestly, good for them.

...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
