Ahead of Wednesday season 2 arriving on Netflix, fans of the sinister and scandalous saga are already thinking about the officially-confirmed Wednesday season 3, announced by the streaming service in July of 2025. But what's after that? Is Wednesday season 4 on the table? Are spinoffs a possibility? Well, if you ask the show's creators, absolutely every future you could imagine for the show is possible, as they've confirmed they'll do as much Wednesday will allow them to.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar cast their eyes to the future of the series, revealing that, though they have a greta many ideas for what comes next, the one thing they do not have is an end date in mind.
"We’ll take as many seasons as Netflix wants to give us," because we made a mistake with Smallville at one point. We had a five-year plan, and then the show went on for 10 years."
Oh, yeah, did you not know that? Before they aged up the Addams Family's morose and brilliant daughter, Gough and Millar got paid for aging down the Man of Steel, essentially kicking off superhero fare on The CW. You learn something new every day, Popverse reader!
"So we’re not going to get out in front of that," continues Millar, "But we certainly have a plan for season three and beyond, ways to keep evolving the character and follow her journey into adulthood. The great thing about Wednesday is she’s got the bandwidth of an AM radio — in season one, just a hug could be emotional. She’s unapologetically analog, and she’ll go into situations that she hasn’t thought it all the way through. For someone who’s so smart, she also makes a lot of mistakes — which is fun. It makes her human and not feel like a superhero."
We suppose the pair of you would know.
Wednesday Season 2 part 1 will be released on Netflix on August 6, with part 2 of the season coming September 3.
