Yellowstone goes mainstream with new spin-off following Kayce Dutton airing on CBS rather than Paramount+

The show, called Y: Marshals, has been greenlit for a 13-episode run that will air Sunday nights on CBS before being available on streaming.

If, like so many other people, you wish it were a bit easier to get your Yellowstone fix, we’ve got some good news. The franchise, which has become one of the biggest hits for Paramount+, is finally making the jump to a major network when a spin-off starring Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton in Y: Marshals lands on CBS in 2026.

The spin-off, which follows the youngest of the Dutton clan after the end of Yellowstone, has been developed at CBS for the past few months but now has been officially greenlit. The network is giving Y: Marshals a 13-episode run in the first instance and plans to begin shooting this summer. The season is expected to air on Sunday nights starting in 2026. Luke Grimes is back to play Kayce Dutton, who will be using his skills as a cowboy and a former Navy SEAL to work in protecting the region as a member of an elite unit of US Marshals.

This isn’t the first time that a Yellowstone series has been on the network, but it is the first time that it has debuted on CBS rather than on Paramount+. CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said that they were focused on “trying to make our shows work on both platforms” and were reacting to the success that both Yellowstone and Tulsa King had when they were aired on the network after being streamed initially.

Y: Marshals is the latest spin-off of Yellowstone and will air on CBS in 2026 rather than debuting on Paramount+.
