Frieren release schedule (Updated June 2026): When the hit fantasy manga will return from its long hiatus
When the release date for new chapters of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End are announced, we'll make sure you're the first to know.

Our Frieren release schedule will tell you exactly when the next chapter of the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga will be coming out. The series has already had two stellar anime seasons, and a third is on its way, but it has also had multiple, lengthy hiatuses over the years that make it tough to know exactly what the Frieren release schedule is going to be.
How often do new Frieren chapters come out?
Normally, new Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End chapters come out every week or so, but it has had a sporadic release schedule for the past few years. At least for the start of its serialization, Frieren was released in Weekly Shonen Sunday, a weekly manga magazine published by Shogakukan. However, since October 2025, the manga has been on an indefinite hiatus, meaning that no new chapters have been published in nearly a year.
When is Frieren chapter 148 coming out?

There is currently no release date for Frieren chapter 148. The most recent chapter, Frieren chapter 147, was released on October 14, 2025. At this time, it was announced that the manga would be going on hiatus, and no new release schedule has been confirmed.
The release schedule for new Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End chapters is:
- Frieren Chapter 148 release date: TBA
- Frieren Chapter 149 release date: TBA
- Frieren Chapter 150 release date: TBA
What time do new Frieren chapters come out?
When Frieren does come back from its long hiatus, new chapters will typically appear in Weekly Shonen Sunday, which comes out on Wednesday in Japan (contrary to its title). When the new chapters hit shelves in Japan, they are usually released in English as well. This happens at 11:00 am EST on Tuesday, thanks to the magic of time zones.
Where can you read Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End?
Fans who want to read Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End in English have a few options. The easiest and most cost-effective is to subscribe to the Viz website and read the manga there. The other alternative is to buy physical copies of the manga. So far, 14 volumes have been released in English with one more waiting to be translated. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Volume 15 is due out on December 8, 2026 in English.
Why is Frieren on hiatus?
In October 2025, it was announced that Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End would be on hiatus due to health issues of both writer Kanehito Yamada and artist Tsukasa Abe. This resulted in the manga’s longest hiatus to date, which is likely to extend to over a year before it is over. It isn’t unusual for mangaka to have to go on break due to health issues, though this is becoming a very long hiatus, which has many fans worried for the future of the series.
When is Frieren Season 3 coming out?
The anime adaptation of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is set to return with Season 3 in October 2027. The show has proven to be one of the most popular anime in recent years, thanks to its beautiful animation and bittersweet premise. The first season aired from September 2023 to March 2024, while the second, shorter season aired from January to March 2026.
