You know what we love about manga? They end. While comic books can go on for decades, with different creators having their turn at characters like Batman and Superman, most manga eventually have a final chapter – yes, even One Piece. The creator of The Summer Hikaru Died confirmed that the cosmic horror boy love manga is in its final stages, though they didn’t say how many chapters it would be until the story finally ended.

The Summer Hikaru Died began serialization in August 2021 and has since published 46 chapters. However, there is an end in sight for the award-winning manga. While promoting a recent interview appearance, creator Mokumokuren confirmed that The Summer Hikaru Died is in its “final stages.”

Fans might be disappointed to find out that The Summer Hikaru Died will end, but it has always felt like there was an ending coming. The boy formerly known as Hikaru can’t masquerade as a human forever, and, eventually, Yoshiki will reach his breaking point while trying to keep up with the supernatural world he’s found himself in. We also don’t know how long this final stage will be; One Piece’s final saga has been going for years now, and we’re no closer to knowing what the One Piece is. We’ve all got plenty of time to say goodbye to The Summer Hikaru Died.

The Summer Hikaru Died Chapter 47 is coming in June 2026 and inches the series closer to its eventual end now that its creator has confirmed it is in its final stages.
