Raphael voice actor Rob Paulsen gushes over TMNT: The Last Ronin as a "powerful... evolution of the mythology"

Rapheal voice actor Rob Paulsen calls The Last Ronin a powerful evolution of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mythology

When the convention ends, the adventure continues at Broward Center and The Parker, sponsor of this article.

Rob Paulsen is a man of many voices. If you grew up watching cartoons, you may know him as the voice of Yakko Warner, Pinky, Carl Wheezer, and many others. However, his time as Raphael on the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon remains near and dear to his heart. Not only is it a role Paulsen fondly remembers, but he’s also kept up with some of the various Turtles projects that have been released since the cartoon ended. One of his favorites is The Last Ronin

What [Kevin Eastman] and [Peter Laird] did has enormous staying power,” Rob Paulsen says during a panel at Florida Supercon. “Truly, many of you weren’t even thought of when this show was made. And to see what these young men have created – when you’re orange you’ll probably have more cheese than me, but there will still be folks making and watching Ninja Turtles. This is remarkable. I don’t have a particular favorite, but I must say that I really love The Last Ronin. I love that story. It’s so powerful, and the evolution of the mythology of the Turtles.”

The Last Ronin is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic set in an alternate post-apocalyptic  future where Michelangelo fights to avenge his fallen brothers. So yes, one of Raphael’s favorite Turtles comics is one where he’s dead, but if you read the comic you would understand. It’s that good.
