Critical Role's Marisha Ray offers advice on cosplaying her Campaign 4 character - "Let it all hang out"

Ray, who will play Murray Mag'Nesson in the upcoming Critical Role Campaign 4, advises those inspired by her look to "let the sun hit them in all the places"

I've been all over the nation to see cosplayers at comic cons, and I have to say: Critical Role cosplayers are some of the best. That's an opinion shared by the Critical Role cast themselves, in fact, so much so that, when designing their characters for the upcoming Campaign 4, they were already thinking about what real-world representations they were going to see of their Aramánian avatars. At least, Marisha Ray certainly was - and if you're planning to cosplay her upcoming character Murray Mag'Nesson, she's already got tips on how to do that.

We got to here those tips live as Popverse sat down with Ray (and fellow castmates Laura Bailey, Robbie Daymond, Matthew Mercer, Aabria Iyengar, Alexander Ward, and Sam Riegel) for a promotional chat regarding the upcoming Campaign 4. There, we had to bring up Murray's delightful character design, and since we knew it would get the cosplay treatment eventually, request advice from the primary source.

"I would be lying," Ray said of her character being cosplayed, "If I said I didn't have that inkling rolling around in the back of my head when I started designing Murray."

I mean, can you blame her? Murray' could to be a threat to Aramán baddies by eyeliner alone, to say nothing else of the rest of her costume.

"I'm just so excited," Ray continued, "To see all the beautiful, busty, femme-presenting people out there just going to town. Just let it shine! Let the sun hit them in all the places, places that maybe [it doesn't] normally don't get the opportunity to. I can't wait."

"I will say, too," she pointed out, "One of my favorite things is always seeing the gender-bending cosplay, and I think Murray lends herself very well to some genderbending."

But whether or not thats the tactic you take in your own Murray Mag'Nussen cosplay, Marisha Ray wants you to know you can be as liberal as you like in  "Let it all hang out," she concludes.

Words to live by, Marisha. And by "live by," I of course mean, "quote directly in my company-mandated meeting regarding last year's Popverse Halloween party."

Critical Role's Campaign 4 debuts on October 2 on Critical Role's BeaconYouTube, and Twitch channels.
