Here's an unlikely double feature for you - Ari Aster's era-defining folk horror Midsommer and Marvel's Infinity Saga prequel Black Widow. Previously, the only notable connection between the two would be Florence Pugh, who plays both Yelena Belova and poor, grieving Dani, but not, their respective strands around the cinematic maypole just completed another twist:
Scarlett Johansson has joined Aster's latest horror project.
The news comes from Deadline, who reported on their upcoming collaboration on May 11. According to the outlet, the next, mysterious film to be helmed by the Hereditary director is entitled Scapegoat, and that's...
Uh, that's actually kind of all we know about it at the moment. Ari Aster is pretty famous for keeping his plots under wraps, and even with such a A-lister leading the next one, it seems that streak won't be broken. That said, there is at least one further detail that should excite fans of projects like Midsommar - like every one of Aster's major motion pictures so far, Scapegoat will be distributed by A24.
Will David Harbour also somehow find his way into the project? God I hope so, but the verdict very much out at this time.
No release date for Scapegoat has been revealed as of this writing.
