Filming Avengers: Doomsday and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds at the same time has created an "eventful summer" for Rebecca Romijn

Her entry into the MCU and return as Mystique has been exciting for fans but must be chaos for whoever is in charge of keeping her schedule.

If there was ever an attempt to unite every Marvel movie generation in one film, it is Avengers: Doomsday. With the current line-up of MCU stars teaming up with beloved actors from Fox’s X-Men films, the casting announcement alone became one of the most-watched streaming events of all time. However, this massive crossover film means Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star Rebecca Romijn is pulling double duty this summer as she hops between sets.

While appearing on Watch What Happens Live, Rebecca Romijn was asked about her return as the shapeshifting mutant Mystique. Obviously, she can’t say much as they are still filming and those Marvel NDAs are no joke, but she admitted that, “It feels great. Very surreal. We’re currently in production. Been doing it already.”

However, it isn’t as if Rebecca Romijn has been sitting idly by waiting for Marvel to pick up the phone and bring her back as one of her most iconic roles. Since 2019, she has been a part of the Star Trek universe as Una Chin-Riley, first on Star Trek: Discovery and then in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. In fact, filming on the next season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is currently overlapping with Avengers: Doomsday, meaning that Romijn is hopping back and forth between sets.

“[I’m] back and forth between Star Trek and Doomsday, so, yeah, it’s been a very eventful summer.”
Appearing in two of the most iconic franchises of all time is certainly one way to make sure your summer is eventful, and it looks like 2026 will be just as busy. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season four is out in 2026, while Avengers: Doomsday – also starring Rebecca Romijn – is likely to dominate the box office starting December 18, 2026.
