Something the world could always use a lot more of is Maggie Q being a badass in movies and television. Thankfully for all of us, she'll be getting the chance to take center stage in the upcoming Amazon Prime video show, Ballard. Q's character, Renée Ballard, was first introduced in the final episode of Bosch: Legacy, and we'll finally get the chance to learn more about her in her own show.

Ballard release date is July 9 on Prime Video. The season will consist of 10 episodes, giving us plenty of time to learn what Ballard's story is. And if you're the type to binge-watch, fear not. The Ballard show is part of a busy summer season for television, so once you're done watching the show, there will be plenty of other shows to check out. You can take a look at the show's trailer below.

On Ballard, Maggie Q plays LAPD Detective Renée Ballard, whose whistleblower actions branded her as "troublesome," and left her buried "in the ass end of the LAPD." Now, Ballard leads a cold case unit of "reserves and volunteers" working out of a basement office, which feels very X-Files. Q is joined by John Carroll Lynch, who you might recognize as the actor who played suspected murderer Arthur Leigh Allen in David Lynch's Zodiac film. It's good to see Lynch playing a character doing the investigating, instead of being investigated. And for all of you Michael Connelly fans wondering, yes, Connelly was involved in the Ballard show.

Ballard will be released on July 9 on Prime Video.
