How will the shocking reveal in the season 8 finale affect the CBS show in its next season?

The shocking Season 8 finale of FBI aired on May 18th, 2026, and it's no surprise that the cliffhanger left fans wondering whether or not the show would be returning for a ninth season. Well, we can happily confirm that it will! CBS has renewed FBI for Season 9, and you can expect to see new episodes of the show beginning in fall 2026.

The next big question fans will have after the FBI Season 8 finale is whether or not OA (Zeeko Zaki) will be returning in Season 9 after being fired at the end of Season 8. The answer is yes, although perhaps in a different capacity than in previous seasons. However, you can expect the implications of the events of the eighth season finale to be important to the show in the season to come.

The series also stars Missy Peregrym as FBI Agent Margaret "Maggie" Bell, Jeremy Sisto as FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine, lana de la Garza as Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Isobel Castille, John Boyd as FBI Special Agent Stuart Scola and Juliana Aidén Martinez as FBI Special Agent Eva Ramos.

FBI Season 9 will be part of CBS's Monday night line-up, the network has announced, with the show airing at 8pm Eastern and Pacific (7pm Central), followed by spin-off CIA. While CBS has not officially announced the show's return date, based on network history, fans should expect FBI Season 9 to begin in late September 2026.
