For nearly 20 years, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been delivering anarchic, irreverent humor. With its next season, it further cements itself as one of the most successful sitcoms of all time. When It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17 debuts this summer, fans can expect The Gang to get into their usual hijinks all over again.

Like its predecessor, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s next season will be just eight episodes. This doesn’t mean that Fox is losing interest in The Gang or their antics, however. The show has already been renewed for an 18th season after this one. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17 will begin airing on July 9, 2025 on FXX, joining a growing roster of summer shows that we’ll be watching in the coming months.

This season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia continues the show’s impressive legacy of being the longest-running American live-action sitcom ever. Every season past 15 further adds to that record. Season 17 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will begin with the conclusion to the previous season’s crossover episode with Abbott Elementary. “The Gang F***s Up Abbott Elementary” will tell the same story as the Abbott Elementary episode “Volunteers” from earlier this year. The second episode of the season, titled “Frank Is In A Coma,” will air on the same day as the first.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17 will debut on FXX on July 9, 2025.
