South Park season 27 release date: Comedy Central's titan of raunch animation returns to take on Diddy, airline safety, and more

Remember when "Blame Canada" used to just be a fun movie reference, and not the everyday rambles of a n all-powerful madman? IF not, South Park season 27 is here to remind you

Nearly three decades after its very first episode, South Park continues offering an unhinged, unthinkable satire of the real world, a feat made more impressive by the fact that that real world continues getting more unhinged and unthinkable itself. Nearing its season 27 debut, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are taking aim at real-world issues like airline safety and the ongoing Diddy trial, and we're here to tell you when you can expect to see their brand of crass comic stylings on your very own television screens.

But first, get a load of this South Park season 27 trailer, courtesy of Comedy Central.

Never ones to shy away from the most taboo of subjects, the animated series also looks to be broaching the subject of the United State's increasing unpopularity on the world stage when South Park's season 27 premiere on Comedy Central this July 9. At least, that's what we're gathering from the above images of what appear to be French boats taking back the Statue of Liberty,

Also, in case you missed it in the above subheader, that song that South Park has given the "cinematic trailer" treatment in the background of this video is 'Blame Canada,' a musical number from the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. When that movie came out a quarter-century ago, dissolving relations between America and its northern neighbor were the height of farce.

How things have changed.

South Park season 27 premieres on Comedy Central July 9.
