Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 1 release date: When the anticipated series arrives on Paramount+

The new series will feature Holly Hunter, Paul Giamatti and more.


For years, Trekkie have clamored for a series set at Starfleet’s famed institute of higher education. And soon, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 1 will arrive for streaming on Paramount+, fulfilling those dreams at long last. So when will the release date for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy finally arrive?

The Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 1 release date is January 15, 2026 on Paramount+. The first two episodes of the season will be released for streaming on that date, with the remaining episodes of the ten-episode season debuting on a weekly basis through March 12, 2026. It will have been only a few months since the previous season from the Franchise, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3, concluded in September 2025. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 1 will star Holly Hunter as the Chancellor of Starfleet Academy and the show’s captain. Meanwhile, Paul Giamatti will play the first season’s antagonist, a Klingon-Tellurite hybrid. Reprising their roles from previous Star Trek shows will be Tig Notaro (Star Trek: Discovery’s Jett Reno), Oded Fehr (Discovery’s Admiral Vance), Mary Wiseman (Discovery’s Sylvia Tilly) and Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager’s Emergency Medical Hologram). Rounding out the cast will be the show’s core cadets, played by Kerrice Brooks, Karim Diané, George Hawkins, Sandro Rosta and Bella Shepard.

The release date for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 1 on Paramount+ is January 15, 2026.
