AMC is ending The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon in 2027 with the fourth (and now final) season

It feels like The Walking Dead franchise will never be truly over. With multiple spin-offs and sequels, the series has truly spawned a universe as sprawling as any on television. However, fans can at least look forward to the final chapter in one Walking Dead story as The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4 has been confirmed as the final season of Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride’s zombie adventures.
That news was part of The Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic Con 2026. Executive Producer Scott M. Gimple confirmed that the fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will air in 2027. Will that mean the end of Daryl Dixon’s post-apocalyptic adventures? That depends entirely on whether he manages to survive to the end of the season. Surely there is more of Europe for the cast and crew to destroy before the series comes to an end.
If that truly is the end of Daryl Dixon, it will also mark the end of one Norman Reedus’ time in The Walking Dead. Reedus first appeared in the third episode of The Walking Dead back in 2010, so he has been playing the character for more than a decade-and-a-half now. When the final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon airs in 2027, it could mark the end of a remarkable journey for both the character and fans.
In the meantime, The Walking Dead: Dead City is set to debut on July 26, 2026 on AMC and AMC+.
