The Black Lagoon release schedule has always been pretty sporadic. Not quite as bad as something like Berserk, but it isn’t uncommon to go months between chapters. However, the series is always worth the wait, which is why we try to keep our Black Lagoon release schedule up to date: we don’t want anyone to miss a moment of the action.

There is no set schedule for when Black Lagoon chapters come out. In general, we usually expect two or three chapters a year, but that is not a set rule. When new Black Lagoon chapters are announced, it is always a cause for excitement.

Black Lagoon 123 is coming out on September 18, 2026, according to the VIZ Media website. The most recent chapter was Black Lagoon 122, which came out on May 18, 2026. Because there isn’t a set schedule for when new chapters come out, it is difficult to predict when the next one will be released.

Where can I read Black Lagoon?

You can read every chapter of Black Lagoon on the VIZ Manga website. If you prefer physical releases, they are typically released a year or so after the English release. The most recent collection was Black Lagoon Volume 14, which came out August 19, 2026 in Japan. There is no announced release date for an English release.

Where you can watch the Black Lagoon anime depends on where you live, but it is, unfortunately, not available on any streaming service in the US or the UK. That means that your best chance to watch Black Lagoon comes in buying the physical release. However, we should warn you that it is surprisingly expensive.

What is the plot of Black Lagoon?

Black Lagoon is about a group of mercenaries known as the Lagoon Company and their various jobs and adventures in the fictional Southeast Asian city of Roanapur. The first story introduces Rock, a former salaryman from Japan who joins the group after his employer abandons him to being a captive. He is joined by Revy, a skilled but unstable gunfighter, Dutch, the team’s leader, and Benny, who keeps their boat and computers running.

Why does Black Lagoon come out so infrequently?

The Black Lagoon manga comes out so infrequently because the series’ creator, Rei Hiroe, has struggled with depression for many years. He says that he still wishes to serialize the manga, but is approaching it “cautiously” so he can prioritize his mental health.

Is Black Lagoon finished?

The Black Lagoon manga is still ongoing, though at a very slow pace. Rei Hiroe is still working on the manga, but takes a long time between chapters because of his mental health issues. The anime of Black Lagoon ran for 12 episodes in 2006, but did not have enough material from the manga to continue at the time. Instead, the series ended there. It is possible we’ll have another season eventually, but nothing has been announced yet.
