Apple TV's Pluribus is about how happiness isn't everything. Which is great, because we're not getting season 2 for a while
Vince Gilligan's Rhea Seehorn-starring scifi thriller Pluribus is getting a season 2, says Apple's programming head. But not for a minute

Apple TV's Pluribus is about a lot of things - one of them being that Rhea Seehorn is a goddamn miracle - but maybe the biggest theme is this: wanting is human. To have everything delivered to us immediately, for the sake of happiness, is to lose out on some of the human experience. Well, sci-fi fans, get ready for a very human experience: you're going to be waiting a while for Pluribus season 2.
That's what we gathered from Apple's programming head Matt Cherniss, who spoke with Variety for an interview published July 8. In case you haven't been keeping up, the final episode of Pluribus season 1 aired in December of last year, so fans have been waiting for news regarding the next chapter for about half a year.
"I think that’s going to be tough," the exec said when asked about the thriller's sophomore season, "Vince [Gilligan, creator] is really ambitious with Season 2, and really taking time to make sure that the show lives up to everyone’s expectations. It too is a very complicated show when it comes to executing and shooting, so that would be tough for us to fit into that next cycle. But we’re starting to see early drafts, and everyone’s moving at a good pace. So excited to see that one come back."
Huh. So what you're telling me is that Apple TV has a sci-fi thriller that's as pulse-pounding as it is prescient, and we're going to have to wait for what could be years to see what happens after the shocking season 1 finale? Weird, that scenario sounds super familiar to me, but maybe I'm having some sort of severance from reality.
Pluribus is streaming now on Apple TV.
