Christopher Lloyd returns to The Addams Family for Netflix's Wednesday (and more)
Great Scott, that's a lot of news.

Spooky fans of the world have plenty to cheer about right now as Netflix has confirmed that production is officially underway on Wednesday season two. However, that isn’t the only big news that the streamer has dropped – turns out a familiar face is returning to The Addams Family line-up as Christopher Lloyd himself is joining the cast of the series for its second season.
While he is probably best known for his role as Doc Brown in Back to the Future, Christopher Lloyd also gave a highly memorable performance as Uncle Fester in the two live-action Addams Family films of the 1990s. However, we don’t expect to see him doing the Mamushka anytime soon as he won’t be reprising that role. Fred Armisen is set to play Fester in the second season (and potential spin-off), leaving us all wondering who Lloyd will play in the new season.
Christopher Lloyd’s return to The Addams Family clan isn’t the only thing bit of news that Netflix decided to drop on us today. In addition to Lloyd playing an undisclosed character, we also got several new names for the Wednesday season two cast, including:
- Joanna Lumley as Grandmama
- Frances O’Connor
- Haley Joel Osment
- Heather Matarazzo
- Joonas Suotamo

As if that weren’t enough, Netflix revealed in a teaser trailer that the first episode of Wednesday season two will be titled “Here We Woe Again” and will be directed by the creepiest and kookiest director in the business – Tim Burton.
With season two of Wednesday just going into production, we likely have a long wait before we even get a sniff of a release date for it from Netflix. However, this flurry of news – and the return of Christopher Lloyd to The Addams Family cast – has all of us snapping our fingers in excitement.
Weird is relative, and the iconic comic-turned-tv-turned-movie franchise that is Addams Family is the perfect picture of that. Several of the cast of the '90s movie franchise are coming to Seattle's ECCC 2024, and you can get first dibs on photo ops and autographs and watch their panel for free here at Popverse. You can also get to know Charles Addams' iconic family with our Addams Family watch guide, and stories on how Wednesday's Jenna Ortega thinks her character is "a creepy little freak" and how the Addams family got their names.
